By creating an account, publishing a story, ordering a sticker or magnet, or otherwise using My Plate Story, you agree to this disclaimer and these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Not a government or DMV service

My Plate Story is an independent, privately operated website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to any government, department of motor vehicles (DMV), motor vehicle registry, licensing bureau, or law-enforcement agency in the United States, Canada, or anywhere else.

We do not issue, register, renew, transfer, or validate license plates. We do not perform ownership checks, registration checks, or legitimacy reviews of plates or plate customizations. Photos you upload are optional storytelling, not verification.

A story, QR code, sticker, or magnet from My Plate Story does not prove that a plate is legal, active, personalized, or issued by any authority. Do not present this site or our stickers or magnets as official identification, registration, or government documentation.

User content is yours

Stories, photos, links, and other material you submit are user-generated. You are solely responsible for that content and for any consequences of publishing it. My Plate Story does not adopt, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy of any story.

You represent that you have the right to post what you submit; that it does not infringe anyone else’s copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights; and that it is not defamatory, fraudulent, or otherwise unlawful. Do not post another person’s personal information, imply official status you do not have, or use the service to harass, impersonate, or exploit anyone.

You grant My Plate Story a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute your submitted content as needed to operate the service (including public story pages, QR destinations, browse/search, and print-file generation). You can unlist a story so it does not appear in browse; unlisting does not delete it, and a QR / direct link may still work until the story is removed.

Our brand and copyright

You keep ownership of the stories and photos you create. My Plate Story keeps ownership of the service itself: the name and logos, site design and copy, software, QR sticker templates, and other original materials we create. Those are protected by copyright and other laws. You may not copy, scrape, resell, or reuse our brand, logos, or site materials without permission, except for ordinary use of the service (including displaying a sticker or magnet you bought on your own vehicle).

The name “My Plate Story” and our logos are our trademarks (whether or not a registration has issued). A short name or slogan is protected as a brand, not by copyrighting the words. We do not claim copyright in government plate designs, and a plate story on this site is not an official plate or a substitute for one.

Removal without notice or refund

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to refuse, unpublish, unlist, hide, or permanently remove any story, photo, account, or other content we consider inappropriate, unlawful, misleading, harmful, or otherwise inconsistent with these terms or with the character of My Plate Story — with or without notice, and with or without a refund.

That includes, without limitation: hate or harassment; sexual content involving minors; threats or glorification of violence; spam; scams; impersonation; infringement; content that could reasonably be read as an official government or DMV communication; or anything else we decide does not belong here. We may also remove content to comply with law or to protect the service, our users, or third parties.

Fees are not refunded because we removed your content. If you already paid for a story URL and/or QR stickers or magnets, removal does not entitle you to a refund, credit, replacement print, or continued hosting of that URL. Printed stickers may still exist in the world; if the destination is taken down, scans may fail or show that the story is unavailable. That is a risk you accept when you publish and when you order print.

Moderation is discretionary. We may use automated tools, human review, or both. We are not obligated to monitor every submission, to explain a removal, or to restore content we have taken down.

Payments and print

Checkout is a one-time charge in US dollars — including orders we ship to Canada — for access to a public story URL and for print-on-demand QR stickers or car magnets (and discounted reorders). Your bank or card issuer may add currency conversion, foreign-transaction, or other fees; those are between you and them. We do not set, collect, or refund those amounts. Stripe processes the USD charge; Stripe’s fees for that processing are ours, not a line item on your order. Unless required by law, completed payments are non-refundable, including if you change your mind, unlist your story, provided inaccurate shipping information, or we later remove the story under these terms.

Stickers and magnets are produced and mailed by a third-party printer. Appearance, cut, color, durability, and delivery times can vary. Magnets need a ferrous metal surface and may not stick to aluminum, plastic, or some vehicle panels. We do not guarantee that a QR code will remain scannable for any particular period, that the destination URL will remain online, or that a vehicle, window, or other surface is a lawful or safe place for a sticker or magnet. Follow local rules about window obstructions and vehicle equipment.

No warranty; limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, My Plate Story and its operators disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that stories, URLs, stickers, or magnets will remain available.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or reputational harm, arising from your use of the service, a story, a QR code, a sticker, or a removal or refusal of content — even if we have been advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid to My Plate Story in the twelve months before the claim.

Some places do not allow certain limitations. If those rules apply to you, some of the above may not apply, and you may have additional rights that these terms cannot take away.

Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless My Plate Story and its operators from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your content, your stickers or magnets, your use of the service, or your violation of these terms or of any law or third-party right.

Third-party services

Accounts, payments, file hosting, and printing may be provided by third parties (for example auth, Stripe, UploadThing, and Printful). Their terms and privacy practices apply to those services. We are not responsible for outages, errors, or acts of those providers.

Changes

We may update this disclaimer and these terms at any time by posting a revised version on this page. Continued use of My Plate Story after a change means you accept the updated terms. We may also change, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the service at any time.

Not legal advice

This page is a condition of using My Plate Story. It is not legal advice, and posting or scanning a plate story does not create an attorney-client relationship. If you need advice about plates, vehicles, or liability, consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.

Privacy

How we collect and use personal information — including if you sign in with Google — is described in our privacy policy.
