My Plate Story is a friendly place to share why your custom license plate matters — and to put that story on the road with a QR sticker or magnet. Someone might scan your plate and learn about the business you’re proud of, a hard chapter you came through (like beating cancer), a tribute to someone you love, a nickname that stuck, or just a joke that always makes people smile. You write the story, we host it at a unique link, and we mail you a print so curious drivers can scan and read it for themselves.

Pure curiosity. I’d see a vanity plate on the road and wonder what it meant — a joke, a tribute, a business, something personal? There was never an easy way to find out. My Plate Story grew out of that itch: give plate owners a simple place to tell the story, and give other drivers a way to scan and read it.

Nope — and we say that loud and clear. My Plate Story is a private storytelling product. We don’t issue, renew, verify, or validate license plates, and we’re not tied to any DMV or motor vehicle registry.

One fee covers your story page on the site plus a printed QR vinyl sticker or car magnet shipped to you. Bigger sizes cost a bit more. Extra copies on a first order are discounted; later reorders are priced by size too. Peek at Pricing anytime.

Absolutely. Anyone can browse public plates and read the stories. You only need an account when you’re ready to publish your own and order a print.

By default, yes — that’s how other people discover plates like yours. If you’d rather keep it quieter, you can unlist the story so it stays out of the directory while your QR / direct link still works.

Not at all. Photos are optional — a nice extra if you want them, not a requirement. We do ask for your plate text and a US state or Canadian province so your story URL stays unique.

Yes. We ship to the US and Canada. Checkout is in US dollars for both (Canadian-dollar checkout isn’t available yet).

Vinyl stickers use adhesive and stay put — great on bumpers, windows, laptops, water bottles, and other smooth surfaces. Car magnets are removable, but they need a magnetic (ferrous) metal surface — they may not stick to aluminum, plastic, or some newer body panels (including many plastic bumpers). You’ll pick the medium and size when you design your QR print.

Stickers: bumpers, vehicle windows, laptops, water bottles, and similar smooth surfaces work well outdoors or in. Keep QR codes readable — don’t cover the modules, and follow local rules about window glass and vehicle equipment. Magnets: only on steel / magnetic metal (many steel doors and some metal bumpers). They won’t hold on aluminum, plastic, or carbon fiber. See Pricing for sizes, or the About section on the design page when you order.
